Recommend buying the case guards.

Ease of installation 4.9/5 stars

You have to kind wiggle in to place but overall pretty straight forward. All hardware provided so no guess work.

Protection wise 5/5 stars

Installed on my DR650S for 2 years now. I'm not overly avid adventurer due to other priorities in life. I've dropped my bike plenty of times on trails and hill sides. I'm sure that the oil filter cover would have broken if it wasn't case guard.

Construction 5/5 stars

Made from quality plastic with metal spacers at the bolts holes. Very light weight and flexiable. People forget how quickly weight adds up.

Oil filter change 3/5 stars

Quite easy to replace filter. just make sure the cover oring is fully seated in place before reinstalling cover. Main issue I have is that the Right hand side cover get oil trapped in it that take about 10-15 miles for it to come out fully. Always makes me wonder if the o-ring for the filter cover is leaking or not.

Overall satisfied with the engine covers just that small annoyance of oil entrapment. One thing I have noticed it the Shifter lever comes in to contact with Left hand side cover, but that might be from a bent lever not 100% sure.
The Wrap 9 lettering came off from first low press washing.
