Warp 9 Off Road Wheel test
Posted: May 20, 2013 by singletracksyndicate in Product Reviews
During the chill of this past Colorado winter I was in search of a spare wheel set for my ’11 KTM 350 sx-f. I already had an 18″ rear wheel and was looking for a complete spare set for quick swap outs and spares. I looked at many of the aftermarket brands and also spoke with a local wheel smith about custom building some. I was totally motivated by finding something unique and budget of course was a determining factor.
When I finally put the mouse down and the broadband dust had settled I chose Warp 9 for their color options and overall pricing. Also, I dug the fact their wheel sets come complete with OEM swappable bearings, sprocket (you specify size when ordering), and wave rotors. I’ll be honest, there was some apprehension due to previous concerns over Warp 9′s quality although a friend of mine had an issue with their foot pegs and the company promptly sent him a new set at no charge. That eased my mind as far as warranty issues. Nowadays unquestionable good customer service is hard to come by.
Warp 9 experience started with a few questions regarding manufacturing, shipping, warranty etc. I sent Warp 9 a few emails and was promptly responded to. I didn’t feel like a sales # and was responded to by a human in the continental U.S. unlike most modern-day customer service.
Ultimately the Warp 9 wheelset has become my permanent (instead of spare) set of wheels and will transfer to my next scooter when the time comes. I would highly recommend the Warp 9 as a full replacement set or spares. Feel free to comment on this post with questions.
Fit and Finish
Easy cheesy plug and play application. OEM bearings, rotors, & sprockets fit Warp 9 wheels. All you’ll need is bead locks, rim strip, and some new shoes for a fully functional set of wheels.
Durability
I’ve personally rode on these wheels for 1000+ miles and 5 off-road races with no issue whatsoever. Spokes stayed tight even after initial break in. Rims seem just as durable if not more than OEM excels.
Price
Price point is legit considering they come with sprocket and wave rotors (which I’ve had no issue with). Sprocket has worn as you would thing an all aluminum sprocket would
